Game Creator Sandy Petersen Seeking Donations for New Cthulhu Game

If you love H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos you have probably played or at least looked at the Call of Cthulhu game. It turns out that Sandy Petersen, designer of that game, is now seeking to raise $300,000 in seed money to develop a new game called Cthulhu World Combat. You can read all about the project on Kickstarter’s Cthulhu World Combat page.

Kickstarter is a crowdsourced fund-raising service where project owners describe their work, set goals, and ask people to contribute. In exchange for the pledged support people receive various rewards based on how much money they pledge.

None of the money is collected until the project reaches its goal. So if Sandy Petersen only raises $299,999.99 he won’t receive a dime. It’s okay for people to pledge more than he needs but he has to hit that $300,000.00 mark. This is a very ambitious campaign, in my opinion (and experience).

The Cthulhu World Combat fund-raising campaign runs through December 3. You can help by pledging as much money as you can and/or by helping to spread the word about the campaign. Tweet it, Facebook it, Google+ it, Pin it, etc.

A friend of mine told me about this project. Turns out he used to work in the same building as Sandy and they gamed together and occasionally socialized together. How could I not help? 🙂

So, there you go. No sanity checks required.
