Film-maker Faces April 21 Deadline for Fund-raising

Independent film-maker Shawna Baca is looking for $20,000 to produce a live action feature science fiction / anime-style feature film called “Ascended Masters”. The movie is expected to be the first part of a trilogy but there is just one catch: Baca and her team of Latin and Asian actors and film-makers need to raise the $20,000 by April 21.

Baca and her associates decided to use Kickstarter’s fundraising platform to call attention to the project and raise money for it. As of this writing they have received almost $4,000 in pledges. Contributors are not actually charged for the money unless the $20,000 goal is met.

Shawna Baca‘s work has received critical acclaim and she is recognized as an up-and-coming Latina producer. SF-Fandom has conducted an interview with Shawna that we will be publishing soon.
