Please RT: Happy Birthday SF-Fandom, 10 years old

10 years ago the Xenite.Org Network moved its Web discussion forums to the SF-Fandom.com domain. We did that for two reasons. First, we were in a transitional period, moving our content off the eUniverse network. Second, we were making a stand with other members of science fiction fandom whose domains were under legal pressure from a company that — today — no longer exists.

SF-Fandom has embraced fans for books, television shows, comic books, radio shows, and movies. We have discussed and shared news about plays, gadgets, editorials, changes in the film-making and publishing industries, and we have followed the careers of young actors and actresses who are now mature stars in their own rights.

We have survived many server crashes, Web hosting changes, and even a few drastic upgrades to our software. Friends have come and gone, and come back.

We feel nostalgic and hopeful at the same time. We are SF-Fandom.

Today’s science fiction fandom can be found everywhere on the Web. Many of our old friends are now using Facebook and/or Twitter to connect and reach out to each other. Thanks to the latest versions of VBulletin and WordPress, SF-Fandom.com can also reach out and connect to Facebook, Twitter, and other sites. You can use your Facebook account to register in our forums. You can share your posts on SF-Fandom with your friends on Facebook.

You can set up your own SF-Fandom blog through your forum account. 10 years ago, we never even thought about blogs and “social media” was a buzz term waiting to be used.

The online world has changed and we have changed with it. We welcome you here as lurkers and members of our discussions. We thank you for your support and participation through the years.

Make a wish and blow out the candles: the 10 year celebration is as much for you as it is for us.
