@earthlink Users Accidentally Blocked by SF-Fandom

Automated email procedures sometimes end up in a form of gridlock if left unattended. As SF-Fandom approaches its 10th anniversary on March 6 we are sending out emails to our registered members. However, we have been moving accounts whose email addresses bounce into an “Orphaned Accounts” group (the system acts like you are banned when you try to post, forcing you to contact the administrators with an updated email address).

Apparently some older Earthlink email addresses are no longer valid and it seems that Earthlink’s administrators have set their system to automatically block IP addresses that attempt to send email to too many non-existing accounts.

We have followed Earthlink’s procedure for unblocking our IP address and have moved all Earthlink accounts back into the “Registered Users” or “Contributors” groups. In the coming days we will test each account individually to determine which ones are really bouncing.

If you are an Earthlink user and SF-Fandom user, please log in to your account and make sure your contact information is up-to-date. If you are a former Earthlink user and registered at SF-Fandom with an Earthlink address, please log in and update your contact information as leaving a dead email address in your profile may cause Earthlink to block us again.

We apologize for the inconvenience that the Orphaned Accounts group is causing some longtime members but we do have to manage our email resources carefully in order to remain in the good graces of the other email processing services.
