Now We Have Antimatter – Starships Not Far Away?

Researchers at the CERN Large Hadron Collider have created a whopping 38 atoms of anti-hydrogen, which is a first step toward creating a fuel source powerful enough to propel ships to the stars.

Whether we’ll be looking for the next Montgomery Scott or Geordi LaForge any time soon is anyone’s guess, but so far we’re on track to meet Star Trek’s “prediction” of mankind achieving warp drive (powered by anti-matter) by the mid-21st century.

Let’s just hope we don’t have to go through that third world war….
