Sheldon Whittaker’s Barrier to debut this week

There is a little-known project starring Bruce Hopkins, Claudia Christian, and Matthew Werkmeister called Barrier that has been in production for several years (or multiple phases of production). We first shared information about Barrier on Xenite.Org several years ago and I have personally been waiting for this release a long time.

You can view the trailer here:

There are behind-the-scenes videos available on the Barrier YouTube Channel.

Sheldon has been running a Facebook party this week for Barrier Short Movie. I am traveling and wasn’t able to join in the festivities (I’m using a brand-new laptop that is still asking me to activate, install, and update things as I try to start a new project).

The short movie introduces the audience to Dante Lau, Bruce’s character. Dante is a long-time (space) racing professional whose wife, Gallea (Claudia Christian), has set up a very special race. The short movie follows Dante’s path to illumination about what the real stakes are.

Sheldon gave me a sneak peek of the short movie and I have to say it meets my expectations. I had the pleasure of interviewing Bruce Hopkins in 2003 due to his work in Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings” and he struck me as a very personable and professional actor. It’s so cool to see him in this project.

I don’t know what’s in store for the Barrier project. I’ll try to catch up with Sheldon later this week if he and I have time. You can follow Claudia Christian’s real life adventures on her blog. You can learn more about Bruce Hopkins on his Website.

And you can stay on top of Barrier news at the official Barrier TV blog, where the latest entry (as of this writing) is a report on the Barrier launch at Armageddon Expo 2010.
